A new Family Division Registrar of the Royal Court has been appointed. Advocate Samantha McFadzean will take over as the judge responsible for granting decrees of divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships, for determining financial disputes between spouses or civil partners and making orders in relation to the children of a family.
The Family Division Registrar is also responsible for registering overseas maintenance awards and for processing adoption applications which are heard before the Royal Court.
Advocate McFadzean was admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1997 and worked in private practice in England as a Family Law specialist until 2012 when she moved with her family to Jersey. Having joined Carey Olsen to continue her Family Law practice, Advocate McFadzean was called to the Jersey Bar in 2015 and subsequently attained the role of Counsel within her firm.
Advocate McFadzean will start her new her role on the 5th November 2018.
