Planning and Building Control are the next service to move their front desk to the ‘One Front Door’ Customer and Local Services building at la Motte Street.
Customer and Local Services launched on Monday 22 October, as a way for customers to reach multiple government services in one accessible hub. A number of services have already moved to the new La Motte Street building, including:
- taxes helpdesk
- Treasury cashiers
- passports front desk
- customs front desk
From Monday 5 November, customers will also be able to access Planning and Building Services at La Motte Street. The new services available from Monday will include: general enquiries, planning and building application drop off, access to historic files and viewing location plans.
Islanders can already view planning submissions online and the department is continuing to develop online customer services. By January, customers will also be able to fill out planning applications, seek advice and track planning progress online.
Statistics show that use of online forms has steadily increased. The top three over the last 3 months include:
- paying Social Security contributions
- informing authorities about stamp duty payments on legal contracts
- leaving the island
Other online services include:
- requesting a tax effective rate notice
- job seeker registration
- telling Income Support about employment changes
The government is continuing to develop more digital forms to improve online services, as part of the ongoing government initiative to make things easier for customers and increase efficiency.
For customers who are not confident using digital services, the newly formed department provides frontline hosts who are trained to help customers with the wide range of services now based at Philip Le Feuvre House.
The relocation of Planning and Building Control’s front desk means their back offices at South Hill will be closed to the public from Friday, 2 November, except by appointment. The phone numbers and email address remain unchanged.
