The Health and Community Services department (HCS) has organised two information sessions later this month for nurses who would like to return to the profession.
The events will provide information about the ‘Return to Practice’ programme, which is run by Health and Community services in partnership with the University of Chester. The programme offers opportunities for those who have trained as nurses, but have since left the profession, to resume their nursing careers.
Those wishing to apply for the programme must have had a previous registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the professional body that oversees the work of nurses and midwives. They will need to commit to 60 hours of theory and between 100 and 300 hours of supervised practice. Upon successful completion of the programme, nurses will be able to re-register with the NMC and return to their profession.
Anyone interested in the programme can attend the sessions at Peter Crill House on either
Julie Mesny, Head of Education, Learning and Development for HCS, said: “We are really pleased to be able to offer the Return to Practice programme. The course is a great way for those who have left nursing, perhaps for a career break, to come back to this rewarding and important career.”
Previous students from the Return to Practice course have “highly recommended” the programme to nurses considering returning to their career. One student commented: “The programme truly exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this course to anyone thinking of returning to practice. You will be welcomed, supported and encouraged all the way.”
Anyone who is a registered nurse who is not currently practising is invited to book a place at the information events by emailing w.stevens@health.gov.je
