The results of the final phase of public consultation to shape Jersey’s first long-term, community vision were published on 13 February 2018.
Findings from Future Jersey, which was held last year, show that Islanders are generally supportive of the vision, the direction in which it is heading and the long-term social, environmental and economic ambitions being proposed.
This feedback has informed changes to the final framework and content, and marks the end of nearly two years of public consultation to involve Islanders in shaping the vision. The finishing touches are now being made and the vision is due to be launched in March.
The Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, said “I’d like to thank every Islander who took the time to give their views. The long-term vision will belong to the community so public feedback has been a vital part of building and shaping it. Preparations are underway for the launch of the final vision, which will set out Islanders’ ambitions and help future Council of Ministers decide priorities for their term of office.”
Ian Skinner, Assistant Director of Strategic Planning and Performance, co-ordinated the consultation process. He said: “Future Jersey was the final stage of consultation, but an important one, to ensure Islanders could see how their ambitions had been taken on board, and how progress will be tracked in the future.”
Future Jersey was part of Shaping Our Future, a government-led consultation launched in 2016. It included a series of stakeholder presentations and briefings, and the successful My Jersey survey. The Future Jersey report
