Hundreds of islanders were able to recycle their household waste on Bank Holiday Monday thanks to the new opening hours at La Collette.
The facility remained open for the first time on Bank Holiday Monday, 26 August following research into when customers wanted the recycling sites to be open and when the majority of people would use the facilities.
Emma Richardson-Calladine, Recycling Manager said: “We’re really pleased with the number of customers we’ve been able to serve over the Bank Holiday. On Monday we were extremely busy, we estimate about 400 vehicles visited the Household Green Waste Reception and approximately 450 vehicles came to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre. We are delighted with this as it shows that our changes in opening times have made recycling easier.”
