The owners of the first mopeds and minibuses due to be inspected by Driver and Vehicle Standards (DVS) have received letters asking them to book their appointments.
The letters have been sent to more than 1,000 moped and motorcycle owners, and more than 100 minibus owners. The vehicles are all due for inspection between 1 April, when inspections begin, and the end of June.
Letters will continue to be sent to the registered owners, ensuring that they have enough time to book and prepare for the inspection.
Gordon Forrest, Head of Driver and Vehicle standards said; “We are prepared for the number of vehicles we will be testing, and have been keeping the public well informed on the inspection standards and process. We have also ensured that dealers and repair centres have been kept informed of the depth and detail that the inspections will cover.
“The other services provided by DVS remain unaffected by this additional work, and operations will continue as normal. We have spent time considering the practicalities of this procedure and are confident with its ongoing efficiency.”
