Driver and Vehicle Standards’ (DVS) annual registration mark auction, which took place at the weekend, has raised more than £183,000 for the department.

The auction is held every year to give islanders a chance to bid for special or interesting registration marks for their vehicles. This year’s auction saw more than 50 desirable registration marks go under the hammer, including 20 four-digit J-numbers, and several low JSY numbers.

The top three sales at the auction were

  • JSY007, which raised £12,800
  • JSY67, which raised £9,000; and
  • JSY73, which raised £8,700.

The funds raised will help DVS to pay for service improvements for customers, including work on new IT systems.

Gordon Forrest, Head of DVS, said: “This year’s auction was another great success, raising significant funds for the department. I’d like to thank everyone involved, particularly Simon Drieu & Co auctioneers and their staff, for ensuring that the event ran smoothly.”

The next registration mark auction will be held next year, but any islanders that missed out can still get a special registration mark from DVS.

Mr Forrest added: “For anyone still wanting a special registration mark, we issue a number of four-digit J-numbers throughout the year. We also have 5- and 6-digit marks available, which are often popular as birthday plates.”

Anyone wishing to request a special registration mark can see what is currently available and submit a request on gov.je.
