Dye tracing carried out in Elizabeth Marina

08 April 2019

Officers from Environmental Protection today carried out dye tracing as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged pollution in Elizabeth Marina.

As part of their work, officers from the department used a dye tracing process, widely used in drainage investigations, to help identify an alleged pathway between a construction site on the Waterfront and Elizabeth Marina.

Tim Du Feu, Director of Environment Protection said: “The green dye used in the process of dye tracing may be visible in sea water in the marina today after this morning’s high tide. The discoloration should be short lived, it is non-toxic to the environment and won’t stick to boats moored in the marina.”

“The public shouldn’t be alarmed if they notice any changes in the water colour during this testing.”
