Motorists using Five Oaks roundabout can expect disruptions from next week, as the next stage of roadworks begins on La Grande Route de St Martin.
From Monday, 30 September, lanes will be closed and diversions will be in place via La Hougue Bie until around 16 October (weather permitting).
Improvements to the footpaths, zebra crossing and vehicle entrances to the north of roundabout will be completed in the first phase, after which work will begin in November to reconstruct the roundabout itself and resurface the final section of La Grande Route de St Martin, outside Normans.
Rob Cabot, Highway Maintenance Manager, said: “Last month, we finished reconstruction work between Normans and St Martin’s Church. We completed this major resurfacing project on schedule and now we need to finish the works north of the roundabout and on the roundabout.
“I’d like to thank motorists for their patience throughout this significant project, and once again, apologise for any disruptions or inconvenience. By creating the diversion via La Hougue Bie, instead of using temporary traffic lights, I expect delays to be kept to a minimum.”
Full information about the project and diversion routes are available on the roadworks page and on the Government of Jersey’s social media pages.
