Motorists using Five Oaks roundabout are being advised to allow extra time for journeys when travelling into St Helier from Monday, 14 October as the next phase of roadworks begin on La Grande Route de St Martin.
From 9am Monday, motorists will not be able to access the Five Oaks roundabout from La Grande Route de St Martin as the southbound lane will be closed. Signed diversions will be in place from Maufant Village, via La Hougue Bie to Five Oaks.
Highway Maintenance Manager, Rob Cabot said: “We have finished the improvement works to the northbound pavements and vehicle access points and thank motorists for their patience during this time. As we now enter the second phase of work, it means changing the diversion route around, meaning access to the roundabout from Maufant, heading towards St Helier will be affected.
“Morning commuters are asked to allow a little extra time for their journey to St Helier. We apologise for any inconvenience but we expect delays to be kept to a minimum.”
The roadworks will be suspended this weekend, from midday Friday, 11 October to allow for the Jersey Rally. Access to Five Oaks roundabout will be open as usual on Saturday and Sunday to compensate for the closure of Prince’s Tower Road. Phase two of the roadworks will recommence at 9am on Monday, 14 October.
