The next major phase of roadworks will begin this weekend, Saturday, 23 and Sunday, 24 November, resulting in the Five Oaks roundabout being completely closed to all traffic.
From 1pm on Saturday, 23 November until 9pm Sunday, 24 November the roundabout will be closed and diversions will be in place which could extend journey times.
Highway Maintenance Manager, Rob Cabot said: “Five Oaks roundabout is a crucial junction on our road network. The current road surface is in urgent need of re-construction so it is important that we do the work so that traffic, including many heavy goods vehicles, can continue to use it safely for many years to come.
We are doing the work over the weekend to minimise disruption for commuters and businesses but we do apologise for the disruption it is likely to cause.”
There will be five different signed diversion routes which cover all points of the roundabout junction. The public can view the diversions to plan their journey. It is advised to avoid the area where possible over the weekend.
More details of the planned closures will be released as the project work progresses.
