Motorists are being reminded to follow signposted diversions during road improvement works in Grouville on La Rue à Don between the junction with La Rue des Pres and La Rue de la Ville ès Renauds.
Diversions are in place to allow motorists to access local businesses, which are open as usual. The current diversions use the following roads:
- La Rue à Don
- Rue du Boulivot
- Route de la Francheville (northbound only)
- La Rue de la Parade (southbound only)
- Route de la Hougue Bie
- Rue d’Aval
- Mont Gabard
- Mont de Gouray
- Gorey Coast Road.
Highway Maintenance Manager, Rob Cabot said: “While we have sequenced this work to minimise disruption, we understand that diversions can cause longer journeys. We’ve received several reports of motorists experiencing congestion when using smaller nearby roads as unofficial diversions.
“However, these smaller routes are too small to handle this volume of traffic and using them could lead to further delays. To keep traffic moving smoothly and safely, I would urge all road users to follow the diversion routes provided.”
The phased roadworks, which began on Monday, 25 November are scheduled to be completed on Friday 6 December, weather permitting.
