States Members attend National Prayer Breakfast

24 January 2019

Two States Members are attending the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C. next month.

Assistant Chief Minister, Connétable Richard Buchanan, and Deputy Mary Le Hegarat, who chairs the Health and Social Services Scrutiny Panel, are both attending the event, which has been held each year since 1953.

The Prayer Breakfast is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is designed to be a forum for invited guests from political, social, and business sectors to assemble and build relationships. It consists of a series of meetings, lunches and dinners, and is attended by some 3,500 guests, including international invitees from more than 100 countries and the U.S. President.

Connétable Buchanan said “This is a valuable opportunity for us to talk to senior politicians from around the world, where we can discuss, in person, the part Jersey can and does play in international affairs. I am looking forward to taking part in this international forum and making connections with business and political leaders from around the world.”

The two Members have funded this visit privately.
