Statistics Jersey today released their seasonal influenza vaccine statistics report 2018-2019.
The report shows the delivery of influenza vaccine in Jersey over the 2018-19 flu season, in particular examining the timeliness of the vaccine delivery compared to the onset of influenza.
The indicators used to identify the extent of influenza in Jersey each week are
- number of hospital patients with confirmed flu (confirmed by laboratory test)
- number of resident patients presenting to their GP with flu-like illness
Clinicians can use the numbers presenting with ‘flu-like’ symptoms, alongside cases of influenza confirmed amongst hospital patients to assess the extent of influenza on the Island.
