Environmental internship opens

14 January 2021

An internship programme enabling Islanders to undertake environmental research projects in Jersey is now open for applications.

The Next Generation Internship Programme, for undergraduate students studying a bachelor’s degree in science, geography, environment or agriculture aged 18 and over, is a partnership between the Government of Jersey and Earthwatch Europe.

The two successful applicants will be allocated a research project which they will deliver during an eight-week paid internship placement with the Natural Environment team over the summer.

They will also take part in Earthwatch’s Online Science Camp in the spring. Earthwatch is a non-profit organisation that educates and empowers people to help conserve the earth’s resources.

Jane Burns, eco active Programme Manager said: “This exciting project aims to inspire the next generation and help them understand human impacts on the environment and what actions they can take to protect our natural world.

“Our young people are our future leaders, they have the opportunity to have a long-lasting, positive impact on our community and the planet as a whole.”

The deadline for applications is Friday 26 February 2021.
