Parents and carers who are keen to keep their children entertained during the summer holidays can now search for ideas on an online resource.

After a long period of school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, families who may need new ideas to keep children and young people occupied during the summer can find budget-friendly activities on the Learning At Home website

The website was launched in April when schools, closed due to the pandemic, to provide schools, students, parents and carers with practical advice and resources to help with home learning.

To help families this summer, a list of 54 activities – at least one for every day of the holidays – is now available on the Learning At Home website.

From building a fort to making paper airplanes; there are plenty of budget-friendly ideas on the website. The activities will help children make and develop their creative and physical skills. The web page also includes links to videos and instructions to help families with the activities.

The Minister for Education, Senator Tracey Vallois, said: “I hope that all children and families enjoy their well-deserved summer break, especially after the challenges they have faced while learning from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Learning At Home website has proven to be a very important resource for families during the pandemic. I’m delighted to hear of the update with positive, helpful information and tips, to keep children and young people occupied during the summer holidays.”
