A new manual is now available online providing information and guidance on the recently updated Public Finances (Jersey) Law 2019.
The manual aims to support and guide employees, across all government departments, in the governance of funding and spending of public finances.
Treasury Minister Deputy Susie Pinel said: “This online manual will improve the transparency of how government manages income, spending and assets across all departments whilst also improving the governance around areas like funding arm’s length organisations.
“It forms part of Treasury’s transformation and modernisation programme that aims to deliver accessible, digital information for staff and public. I’d like to thank the officers who have worked tirelessly to achieve this comprehensive and accessible document.”
The States Assembly approved the new Law in June 2019. It came into force in July and it replaces some aspects that were over 15 years old. The government has offered staff training and Senior Leadership Team meetings to enable a greater understanding of how the new Law will affect staff and stakeholders.
The Public Finances Manual is available online and replaces a database of more than 30 PDF documents.
