Roadworks are due to begin on Monday, 27 January on a major resurfacing project on parts of La Grande Route de la Cote, Plat Douet Road, Victoria Road and the Georgetown junction.
From Monday, 27 January temporary traffic lights will be in operation due to lane closures while preparatory works begin. Full road closures are then scheduled from Monday, 3 February with the section on La Grande Route de la Cote closed to all traffic during the day between 9am until 6pm, weather depending.
Highway Maintenance Manager Rob Cabot said: “This is the start of a carefully planned eight-week schedule of phases that will progress onto the Georgetown area. These works are part of an Island-wide schedule to continue regular maintenance to road surfaces which are due for renewal every twenty years. For the first time, we have published our annual program of works online so Islanders can be prepared in advance. This project has been planned in phased sections, working around school half term, to minimise disruption as far as we can especially on the Georgetown junction, but we do apologise for any inconvenience the work will cause.”
Diversions will be in place around the area and full details of the 8-week schedule with a breakdown of phases has been published online.
