Coastal National Park Boundary Review published

26 February 2021

The Coastal National Park Boundary Review was commissioned as part of the evidence base for the new Island Plan and will help set new planning policies, as well as suggesting other ways to improve the protection of Jersey's coastline and associated intertidal and marine areas.

Fiona Fyfe Associates were asked to review the boundary of the Coastal National Park. Stakeholders including members from the National Trust for Jersey, and Jersey National Park provided input together with the Government, to put the report together.

Minister for Environment, Deputy John Young said, "I am really pleased that this report recognises the importance of protecting our coastal zone from development, and that it recommends extending this protection to new areas of outstanding landscape character. I'm also delighted with the suggestion that the Coastal National Park should include Jersey's most valuable marine areas.

The new Island Plan will respond to the recommendations set out in this report and will strengthen the protection offered to our unique coastline."
