Islanders aged 60-64 will be able to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments from tomorrow, Thursday, 25 February, as part of the next eligible group outlined by the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JVCI).
The booking system for this age group will go live on Thursday 25 February and Islanders will be able to book any available appointments on the same day.
The next eligible groups can book and receive vaccination appointments from:
- 55-59 years old – Wednesday 3 March
- 50-54 years old – Monday 8 March
Head of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, Becky Sherrington, said: “We have seen high levels of uptake in the vaccine, which is incredibly positive.”
“I encourage all Islanders in these groups to book their appointments. They have been prioritised by the JCVI because they are deemed at the highest risk of suffering complications if they become infected with the disease.
“Once Islanders aged 50-54 have received their vaccine, the team will be moving on to the mass roll out of second doses of the vaccine so we’d like to get as many people as possible vaccinated with their first dose as this will offer the greatest protection to themselves and the Island.
“When appointments become available, most people are finding it quicker to book online although Islanders who don’t have access to the internet or require a home visit should use our Helpline.”
Islanders will need to have the following information on the vaccine recipient to make a booking online:
- Name, Address, Contact details
- Social Security number
- Date of Birth
Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf said: “I continue to be extremely proud of the progress the vaccination team have made in such a short space of time. Coming to the end of the first phase of the vaccination roll out for Jersey is an incredible achievement in protecting our most vulnerable Islanders from COVID-19.”
“As I have said throughout the vaccine rollout, I encourage all Islanders who are eligible for a vaccine to book their appointments as soon as possible and to continue following public health guidance, even after vaccination.”
As of Sunday 14 February, 25,952 doses of the vaccine have been administered and 3,256 Islanders have had both doses.
