On Saturday 7 August, officers from Jersey Customs & Immigration Service (JCIS) attended the arrival of the Condor Clipper from Portsmouth during routine patrols. Two males in a UK registered vehicle were stopped and a subsequent in-depth search of the vehicle was carried out. Officers found a hidden compartment containing approximately 1.2 kilos of suspected cocaine. The drugs seized hold a current street value of between £150,000 - £180,000.
Craig Patrick Yeowart (38) and Darren Paul Maidment (35), both from Liverpool, were subsequently charged with the importation of Class A drugs and will appear in the Magistrate's Court today [Monday 9 August].
