A formal application has today been submitted to the Parish of St Helier by the Our Hospital project team so that the necessary surveys of Westmount Road can continue.
The results of the work, which will include topographical, ecological and vehicle movement studies, will help inform the design for preferred access route for Jersey’s new hospital at Overdale.
The Road Works and Events (Jersey) Law 2016 permit application will cover those areas which the project team specifically needs to access for the purposes of the road design.
Once the design for the road has been completed, it will be brought to a Parish of St Helier Assembly, in accordance with the recent Parish Requete decision.
A detailed presentation of the intended survey works is being given to Parish of St Helier officials today, with further presentations planned for the St Helier Constable and Deputies, and Overdale residents, early next week.
Deputy Chief Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham, Chairman of the Our Hospital Political Oversight Group, said: ‘This important work will allow the project team to complete the survey works required to produce the designs for the preferred access route for Overdale, in accordance the wishes of the recent Parish Assembly.
‘We are working closely with the parish to share all of the information about the works with them, and with the Overdale neighbours. I have also requested that further detailed presentations be given to all relevant parties over the course of the next week.’
