Vaccine appointments open for 18-24-year olds

10 June 2021

Islanders aged 18-24 years old will be able to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments from Sunday 13 June, with appointments starting on Monday 14 June.

This means all adults resident in Jersey can book a vaccine appointment to get protection against COVID-19 from next week.

Key statistics as at 9 June:

  • 84% of Islanders over 30-years old have had one dose
  • 73% of all adult Islanders have had one dose
  • 57% of adult Islanders are fully vaccinated
  • 113, 192 total doses have been administered

Head of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, Becky Sherrington, said: "It's really good news that we will be open for all adults in the Island to get their vaccines and protect themselves against the virus.

"We have always been committed to vaccinating Islanders as quickly as we can in order to protect the community. Opening appointments next week will ensure all Islanders over 18 years old can take full advantage of the protection that vaccines provide.

"Students returning from university who have not already received their first dose will be able to get their vaccine in Jersey. They will also be eligible to get their second dose in the Island but should call the helpline to book an appointment if their first dose was administered off-Island.

"Islanders wanting to book an appointment, should do so as soon as possible, as opening up earlier than anticipated means the vaccine appointments will be limited for the next few weeks.

"We are asking parents, friends and family to help get the message to young people so that they can receive their first dose of the vaccine from Monday, and we will be contacting schools to put the message to sixth form students.

"Appointments will of course, be based on availability so we urge those eligible to book sooner rather than later as demand inevitably increases."

Islanders can book by calling the COVID helpline on 0800 735 5566 or online on the COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments page.
