23 May 2022
Today, in celebration of the United Nation's World Day for Cultural Diversity and Dialogue (21 May), the Jersey Employer Group network (JEG) launches the Island's first ever cultural diversity map which invites all Islanders to discover more about the diverse cultural stories of Jersey's population.
The map celebrates Jersey's cultural diversity by showcasing how diverse our various employment sectors are on-Island.
On visiting the interactive online map, visitors can click on anonymised stories listed in a menu. You can explore the map by looking a Jersey parish view or a world map view. Islanders over the age of 18 are encouraged to share their cultural stories – anonymously - by competing a short optional e-form. The map will be refreshed regularly and will be live until May 2023.
Led by the JEG, the aim of the Jersey Cultural Diversity map is to give visitors - particularly young Islanders at the start of their employment journey- the opportunity to:
- find out more about the cultural diversity across employment sectors on-Island;
- showcase why diversity and inclusion is important to employers, employees and to the Island's future; and
- read stories from Islanders
To explore the map, click on a country flag or parish crest and read stories in the right-hand pane. Use the expansion arrow to discover more about the person who submitted the story.
