Islanders who are eligible for the COVID-19 spring booster vaccine have until the end of June to receive their next dose if they have not already done so.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended an Autumn booster programme for those over 75, immunosuppressed individuals and those in care homes for older adults. Therefore, to align with this programme, it is advised to draw the Spring Booster programme to a close to ensure the gap between the two doses is adhered to.
Since the launch of the spring programme in March, 75% of those over 75 have taken up the offer of vaccination.
Those that haven't yet received their boosters are being encouraged to book an appointment or walk into the Vaccine Centre.
Islanders who are eligible are those:
- Aged 75 and over
- Aged 12 and over and are immunosuppressed
- Residing in care homes for older people
Head of the Vaccination Programme, Emma Baker, said: "Relevant clinicians and officers from Jersey's vaccination programme will be discussing the latest advice and further information on the autumn rollout will be provided in due course once the JCVI has issued final guidance.
"Islanders who are currently eligible for a spring booster should still come forward for vaccination if they have not already done so. This will ensure they have good protection between now and when a booster is offered in autumn.
"All vaccination doses continue to be available to Islanders aged 5 and over, and it is not too late to get your first dose if you have not already done so."
Islanders can visit www.gov.je/vaccine to check which doses they are eligible for and to book an appointment.
