An update meeting was held with residents of Grands Vaux to share some of the findings from the Flooding Incident Assessment and
Future Planning Report, which has been produced following the floods in January.
The report details exactly what happened on the day of the flood, how it was handled by
emergency services, the Infrastructure team, Jersey Water and Andium, and outlines the
future work to manage the flood risk in the Grands Vaux area. A copy of this report will be
published in the coming weeks.
This was the second community meeting held with the residents since the flooding
occurred – the first was staged in March. It was hosted by the Minister for Infrastructure,
Deputy Tom Binet, and attended by the Minister for Environment, Deputy Jonathan
Renouf, alongside representatives from the Infrastructure and Environment Department,
Andium Homes and Jersey Water.
Residents were given an update on the following areas:
- Weather warnings
- Drain Management
- Flood water management
- Inter-agency working
- Community action and support
- Development and town planning
- Emergency flood plan
Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Tom Binet, said: “I was grateful for the frank and honest
feedback and comments from the residents who attended the evening. The officers and I
will be taking on board this feedback to help shape and develop our future plans.
“I completely understand the residents’ concerns and endeavour to keep them regularly
informed on our progress.”
