Weather
There will be more unsettled weather over the next few days, with heavy rain or showers expected
at times along with stronger winds, but no stormy weather is forecast.
Strong winds are likely to reach strong force 7 to gale force 8 at times from the west or westnorthwest from early Friday morning, with gusts of around 55mph. This is usual for the time of year
and is much lower than the winds associated with Storm Ciarán. However, this is likely to hamper
the ongoing recovery operation and may result in further damage to vulnerable trees or buildings.
The wind should ease again during Friday afternoon.
Heavy showers are also expected to affect the Island at times today, overnight and into Friday
morning. Given the saturated ground this may also lead to some localised surface water flooding,
mainly affecting the roads.

Schools
Hautlieu School had been hoping to open to students tomorrow (Friday). However, despite intense
efforts from the team at Jersey Property Holdings, building contractors and our site team, the
weather has caused issues again and slowed down progress.
As a result, the school building will be closed to students on Friday 10 November, with home
learning continuing including live lessons on Teams.
The school continues to run the small number of exams on Friday.
Visiting traders
Construction businesses from outside of Jersey are permitted to operate in Jersey until 3 December
without a business licence. This is only where they have been contacted by a local business or
individual, and where they are working directly in relation to damage caused by Storm Ciarán.

Businesses are not permitted to go door to door or to tout for business whilst in the Island and
residents should not be directly approached by any business or individual offering their services.
Members of the public are urged to report any business or individual who they are

Paths
Broken branches are still hanging in the trees at many countryside and coastal sites across the
Island. Fallen trees and soil damage from roots remain a risk. The Government advice, therefore,
remains that people should avoid using countryside and coastal paths where possible. Islanders are
asked not to go beyond the barrier tape that has been used to close off some areas.
