The majority of schools in Jersey opened as normal today (Mon 6 Nov) following Storm Ciaran, while Hautlieu School, Samares School and Victoria College remained closed to students and staff following damage sustained during the storm.
The schools, the Education Department and Jersey Property Holdings have been working to ensure that safe opening at all three schools can go ahead as soon as possible. On this basis:
Victoria College will open as normal, tomorrow (Tues 7 Nov) at 8:30 am.
Hautlieu School students will continue with home learning on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, following a site inspection. It is hoped that Hautlieu will be able to re-open later in the week, on Thursday, depending on repair works. The school suffered substantial damage to the roof.
Parents at Hautlieu will receive further information from the school with an updated version of Hautlieu's remote learning guidance for Tuesday and Wednesday.
At Samares School, the Early Years areas are safe to use from Tuesday.
There is extensive damage to the site, and the rest of the school will not be safe to use until next Monday (13 Nov), with a possibility of Friday opening this week if repairs can be completed quicker.
Samares School has put together plans to provide some face-to-face learning for all pupils for this week. Home learning will also be provided alongside face-to-face learning. Details for individual classes have been communicated to parents.

It has been a huge task and one which has been very well done, with lots of different people involved. Our school communities are strong and the work to ensure the safe opening of the three schools which had to close has been a huge and dedicated effort. The safety of all children, young people and staff within the school communities must be our priority."
