The University College Jersey (UCJ) graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 - sponsored by
MasonBreese - is taking place this Friday at St Helier Town Hall. This year, UCJ celebrates the
achievements of 129 graduates from various academic disciplines, marking a significant milestone
in their academic journeys and future careers.
Of those graduating, 97% achieved a pass rate for Honours degrees, with 76% achieving a 1st or 2.1
classification and 51% earning a 1st class degree.
Conducting the ceremony’s commencement address will be Peter Williams, who has held leading
roles in companies such as Cineworld, boohoo and Domino's, as well as being the former CEO of
Selfridges. Mr Williams is now a non-executive chairman of Mister Spex, based in Berlin. He will be
talking to the graduates about the lessons he has learnt over his career.
The graduates will receive their awards at the Town Hall and then parade up King Street, exiting at
Library Place via the Royal Square, heading for The Royal Yacht hotel, where the celebrations will
continue.
The local community is encouraged to join in the celebration by lining the parade route, cheering
on the graduates and showing their support for the Class of 2023. UCJ would like to thank
MasonBreese for their outstanding support and extend heartfelt congratulations to the Class of
2023, and their proud friends and families.
Deputy Inna Gardiner, Minister for Children and Education, said: “I’d like to congratulate all the
students graduating, who have shown dedication, and perseverance, which is reflected in the
excellent results they’ve achieved.
“These graduates will go on to have a positive impact on Island life throughout their careers and, in
many cases, will be providing the much-needed skills and support for key industries we need for
the future. I wish them every success for the future.”
