The Government’s Customer and Local Services department will officially be renamed
Employment, Social Security and Housing from 9 December 2024.
This updated name more accurately explains the department’s core responsibilities and
aligns more closely with the portfolio of the Minister for Social Security, Deputy Lyndsay
Feltham. Ministerial responsibilities remain unchanged, with Deputy Sam Mézec
continuing as Minister for Housing and Deputy Carina Alves responsible for administering
the Control of Housing and Work Law.
The services offered by the Employment, Social Security and Housing department remain
the same as they are now. They include Pensions, Benefits, Long Term Care, Back to Work,
Housing Advice, Registration Cards and Business Licensing.
From 9 December, the Employment, Social Security and Housing team will be located at
Union Street along with many other Government services. Islanders can find more details
and access information for the new building here.
Minister for Social Security, Deputy Lyndsay Feltham said: “This name change reflects the
main purpose and day-to-day work within the department. With the department moving to
the new Union Street building, this feels like the perfect time to make the update. I hope
the new Union Street location provides even greater access to support the needs of
Islanders.”
From the 9 December, the Employment, Social Security and Housing department will be
available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm at Union Street, by calling 01534 444444 or
online at gov.je.
