Current status
Rouge Bouillon remains closed between Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road due to
ongoing investigations into the stability of an adjacent building wall, which was affected by
a burst water main. The Government of Jersey is closely monitoring the situation to ensure
public safety.
Investigatory and repair work
Comprehensive assessments are underway to determine the extent of the damage and
establish the necessary remedial actions. Multiple parties are involved,
including Infrastructure and Environment, Jersey Water, structural engineers,
building surveyors, loss adjustors, and insurance companies.
Private parties responsible for the affected buildings are undertaking detailed
investigations and repair work, which are expected to take some time. Current estimates
suggest the closure could extend towards Easter.
Public impact
We understand that the closure has significant impacts on daily travel and the
coordination of other essential roadworks. These delays are necessary to ensure the
safety of all road users and residents.
Alternative routes and safety assurance
Travellers are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes when accessing town.
The road will only reopen once the buildings are stabilised and all risks of structural
collapse have been mitigated.
Next steps
A further update on the situation will be provided in seven days. Your patience and cooperation
are appreciated as we work to resolve this matter and ensure the safety of all Islanders.
