The States adopted the Island Plan in June 2011. Between 2011 and 2014, there was a need to review parts of the plan, to meet the need for affordable homes over the remainder of the Plan period (until 2020). This arose because decisions made by the States Assembly in 2011 were not robust or sustainable in meeting the Island's housing needs for affordable homes.
An interim review of the 2011 Island Plan was undertaken, which resulted in a Revised 2011 Island Plan (2014). Approved by the States on 17 July 2014.
The Revised Island Plan (2014) set out to achieve:
- a new housing strategy to meet housing needs up to 2020
- a more comprehensive planning policy regime for the Island's coast and countryside
- an updated safety zone around the airport fuel farm
States Members also took the opportunity to revise a small number of other parts of the Plan: the scope of the interim review was limited.
The Revised 2011 Island Plan (2014) was in two parts: a written statement of policies and proposals.
