Recorded crime
There were 3,081 crimes recorded in Jersey in 2021.
This figure is 4% more than in 2020 and represents 29.7 crimes per 1,000 of the population. Despite this, total crimes in 2021 were 2% lower than the 5-year average of 3,151.
A third (33%) of all crime was committed by repeat offenders.

Road traffic collisions (RTCs)
In 2021, there was one fatal and 43 serious-injury road traffic collisions (RTCs).

The prison population in Jersey almost doubled between 1994 and 2011, from an average of 97 prisoners in 1994 to an average of 185 in 2011, an increase of 92%.
However, the average prison population has since decreased - the average population in 2020 was 146, a 22% decrease from 2011.
