- the Fire Service responded to:
- 1,143 emergency calls
- 54 accidental dwelling fires
- 45 road traffic collisions
- average emergency response time was 11 minutes
- 55 people were rescued from fires and other emergencies
- 361 false alarms were received
Response activity (2020)
There were 907 fire and non-fire emergency responses in 2020, of which 329 (36%) were false alarms.

Fire prevention (2021)
The prevention team aims to lower levels of fire and associated harm and loss through helping people to understand and manage risk.
The majority of information is delivered through media channels.

The protection team enforce fire safety and petroleum laws and regulations.
It provides support and technical advice on licensing, pyrotechnics, and planning and building matters.
