Simplified declaration Procedures (SDP) for imports

Traders may be able to use Simplified declaration Procedures (SDP) to reduce the process requirements at the border. SDP requires a reduced data set to be submitted upon import via a simplified declaration with additional customs information submitted via a supplementary declaration.

Authorisation

Traders can be authorised to use SDP themselves, or use an intermediary's authorisation. The requirements to be authorised include:

  • having a good customs compliance record
  • demonstrating that records are maintained and kept properly
  • access to JCIS systems

The simplified declaration must contain enough information for the goods to be identified. It must be accompanied by all documents necessary to release the goods. However, some of your documents may be unavailable for reasons outside your control. In this case you must satisfy Customs that these documents exist before a simplified declaration can be accepted.

How to apply for simplified declaration for imports

You should apply for simplified declaration for imports electronically using Customs declaration and payment website.
