St John’s Village improvement works

​​​About the project

As part of ongoing road safety improvements by Infrastructure and Environment (IE), we will undertake works in St John’s Village.

Improvements include:

Zebra crossing by the Parish Hall

We will install a zebra crossing on La Rue de la Mare Ballam between the Parish Hall and the St John’s Inn.

The associated street light​ing will be improved to ensure safety for pedestrians.

The pavements either side will be widened. This will ensure that pedestrians wanting to cross can see approaching traffic and have sufficient space to circulate.

Zebra crossing on La Route du Nord

We will install a zebra crossing on La Route du Nord south of La Rue de l’Etocquet and link to Maison Le Vesconte.

The road will be narrowed at the crossing to allow us to widen the pavements on both sides. This will ensure pedestrians wanting to cross can see approaching traffic and have sufficient space to circulate.

Associated street lightning will also be improved and ensure safety for pedestrians.

As part of the zebra crossing works on La Route du Nord, we will also be installing a speed gateway by the speed limit signs north of the zebra crossing. This will encourage traffic to reduce their speed when entering St John’s Village.​

Speed limit change in the village

We will introduce a 20 mile per hour limit around St John’s Vil​lage to make walking and cycling safer in and around the village.

The speed limit changes will align with the installations of the zebra crossings.
