Statement of significance
A well proportioned 1842 house in an understated classical style, maintaining much of its original features. Residence of Dean of Jersey.

Streetscape value in prominent location at street corner and adjoining the church of St Mark's
External Description
Detached house set back from the road with its own driveway and garden. 2 storey, 7 bay with the 2 bays to the north being set back with separate roof. Front (west) elevation: Hipped slate roof, the central bay having a pediment with two crossed axes and the date of 1842 on it. Stucco with rusticated quoins. Windows to set back bay are 4 pane (2/2) sashes with horns. Remaining windows are 12 pane (6/6) sashes with thin glazing bars and no horns. Entrance porch in centre, with plain pilasters (no capitals), cornice and flat roof. Sides of porch have been glazed in, coloured geometric tiles to floor. Door is 4 panel timber with roll moulding down centre, side lights and overlight of 2 panes with coloured glass margin lights. Rubble granite boundary wall with dressed stone edges and intercepted with iron railings. Iron gates. Side (south) elevation: Hipped slate roof, ashlar effect chimneys. Two first floor windows are blocked, central one is 12 pane (6/6) sash without horns. New conservatory along length of two bays. Original 'classical' porch has been lost.
