Statement of significance
A high quality farm group comprising an historical succession of interesting buildings, including an early single storey cottage (now farm storage), superseded by second early C18 house, in turn superseded by a fine mid C19 cod house, which retains most of its impressive features including large elegant cantilevered staircase, mahogany doors, panelling and shutters to windows, and marble fire surrounds.

Farmstead with 2 houses, cottage used as storage, and range of outbuildings. Main house: semi-detached, 2 storey, attic and basement, 5 bay; pitched roof, felt tiles, dressed corniced granite chimneys to ends, small central dormer in east pitch; front/east elevation: dressed granite, central door, timber door, 6 panel, geometric overlight, coloured panes, side lights, timber sash windows, 12 pane (6/6), replacement, set back behind forecourt with granite gate piers, curved dwarf walls and railings, with earlier farmhouse along north side; side/south elevation: modern conservatory; side/north elevation: granite rubble, dressed granite quoins, 2 small openings to attic. Rear (west) elevation: various windows, 12 pane (6/6), no horns, central door. House to north of forecourt: 2 storey, attic, 5 bay, pitched slate roof, small roof light, dressed granite chimneys to ends, thatch stones. Front (south) elevation: granite rubble, dressed granite to windows, date stone, timber sashes, 2 pane (1/1) horns. Side (east) elevation: granite rubble, small 1st floor window. Farmyard: link wing from east end of north farmhouse along roadside, pitched pantile roof, 2 storey, granite rubble, adjoins to north milking parlour, 2 storey, pitched slate roof, west elevation overlooking farmyard, granite rubble, dressed granite to openings, arched cart entrance to north, 2 loading doors to 1st floor, windows replacement; adjoins to north single storey cottage, much altered and used for storage; to west of cottage further barn, granite rubble rear, west wall, forms one of walls of rectangular kitchen garden, pitched corrugated roof. Detached wash house to south-west of yard, 2 storey, pitched slate roof, granite rubble with dressed granite openings, modern vehicle opening to north elevation, modern single storey extension to west elevation, replacement windows. Former cow byre to west of yard, open to south with brick pillars, granite rubble rear north wall forms one of walls of kitchen garden. Further granite walled kitchen garden to south of main house, dressed gateway in west wall.
Internal Description
Main house: 2 room, broad central hall and staircase, double pile; hallway, mahogany front door, to rear plaster flattened arch above pilasters leading to large open well staircase to attic, cantilevered, turned balusters, sweeping half round mahogany hand rail terminates at base in a coil with star-shaped mother of pearl button, applique to the string. This fine interior contains many other original features including marble fire surrounds to most rooms (except rear south ground and 1st floor), mahogany doors and moulded frames, some rooms with panelled full height cupboards, rear room door frames with reeding and roundels in corners, shutters and oak panelling to reveals beneath windows to front rooms, timber panelled reveals to rear rooms, large doorway between ground floor north rooms (2 large panelled doors formerly closing this space now in exterior doorway to north-west barn in farmyard). The attic is a large single space with roof trusses visible; door below staircase down service stair to rear door and cellar divided into several spaces by rubble walls, the north space used formerly for cider collection and storage. Interiors of attached second house and other main farm buildings not seen.
