This is the most prominent building on David Place. External Description Probably originally detached property, set back. 5 bay, 3 storey with basement. At the rear there is a ground floor extension to south side and 2 storey extension to the north side. Stable block now No 11 Apsley Street. Front (west) elevation: Slate roof behind parapet, modern box dormers, rendered chimney. Stucco with rusticated quoins. Second floor windows are 2 pane (1/1) sashes, First floor and ground floor windows are 2 pane (1/1) sashes with horns, the central one opening onto a small balcony over the porch with iron railings and a flagpole. Stucco surrounds to windows and bracketed cills. 3 steps lead up to columned porch with Doric base but squared capitals. Door is 4 panel, the top 2 glazed with side and overlights in replacement stained glass. Boundary wall curves into entrance, stone with iron railings. Rear elevation: 2 modern dormers. 2 storey extension in centre linked to staircase landings. Second floor windows are 12 pane (6/6) sash windows. 2 storey extension to south has 12 pane (6/6) windows to 4 bays and pvc windows in later addition. Single storey extension to north has pvc doors with consoles and cornice above. 4 panel door to main house, the top 2 being glazed. Internal Description Symmetrical layout, 2 rooms deeps with central hallway and staircase. Staircase swan neck ballustrade with turned balusters through to attic floor, where a fire partiton has been built across it. Arch with meander pattern separates entrance hall from staircase, the same pattern being repeated on the ceiling moulding. Black and white tiled floor and plaster ceiling with leaf and spear cornice. 4 panel door with coloured glass in top 2 panels behind staircase. Ground and first floor rooms, shallow, panelled reveals to windows, but no fireplaces survive. 4 panel doors in ground and first floor rooms. Basement with original wide board match boarding and cellar partitions. Ground floor doctor's practice, residential flats on upper floors.
