A prominent, high quality example of a late Victorian shop which retains a fine example of an historic shop front, and is a show-piece of the period.

External Description
Corner building. 4 storey, 4 bay to N, corner bay, 1/5 bays to W. North elevation: hipped, slate roof. Fishscale, tile hung fourth floor behind parapet with 3 windows (partially seen). Walls rendered. Small cornice at gutter level. Windows are 2 pane (1/1) sashes, no horns. Ground floor shop front cornice and fascia runs around corner and is topped with decorative iron railings. 3 bay, 2 pane windows with panelling under. At east end, framed by fluted pilasters with floral capitals and brackets, is 6 panel door with overlight. Shop entrance recessed on corner behind columns. Double 2 panel doors, upper glazed, with 1 paned overlight. Lion and unicorn plaque over cornice, flag pole projecting over. West elevation: north bay as north elevation. South 5 bays: cornice continued at same level with scroll end to north bay parapet. Round hopper at gutter level below parapet junction. Walls rendered with ashlar and keystone effect. Windows are 2 pane (1/1) with margin lights sashes, small horns. 2 south bays blind windows. Shop front runs around from north elevation, framed after 2 bays by fluted pilaster. Southern 4 bays framed by engaged, fluted columns and pilaster with foliate capitals. Rear, south elevation (Vine St.): 2 bays. Walls rendered with ashlar and keystone effect. Round hopper with flange at gutter level. Windows are 2 pane (1/1), with margin lights, sashes, small horns. Shop front runs around from west elevation, framed by engaged, fluted columns and pilasters with foliate capitals.
