About the Infected Blood Compensation Scheme
The Scheme has been set up to pay compensation to victims of infected blood in the UK.
You may be eligible to apply if you were treated in Jersey, and meet the other eligibility requirements and conditions.
The Scheme is administered in the UK and is delivered by the
Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA). They are responsible for handling claims and making payments.
All decisions about eligibility and the amount of an award are made in the UK.
Making a claim
Applications should be made directly to the
Infected Blood Compensation Authority.
You can stay up to date about when each stage of the Scheme opens on
Infected Blood Compensation Authority. You can also sign up to their mailing list.
When you start the claim process you will be supported by a dedicated claim manager.
The amount of compensation you could receive depends on:
- the type of infection
- its progression
- how it has impacted different aspects of your life
Who can apply
You can find detailed information about the eligibility requirements on the
Infected Blood Compensation Authority website.
The information below is a high-level summary only.

Indirectly Infected people
An indirectly infected person is someone who was infected through someone else.
This can be:
- by someone who was directly infected, such as your partner

Affected people

The infected person must be confirmed as eligible for the Scheme first. Then the affected person can make their own claim.
