About the consultation

This survey is intended to obtain data on the trade barriers experienced by Jersey businesses when trading with or within the EU by asking businesses and organisations to share:

  • the EU countries with which they are currently trading
  • whether the 2021 Trade and Cooperation Agreement has changed ease of business
  • any specific challenges and jurisdictions
  • their preferred priorities for the UK Government in reducing barriers
  • the jurisdictions with which they would like to develop trade

The responses will:

  • contribute to efforts to reduce the trading barriers to business as part of the UK-EU reset
  • support Jersey's Export Strategy
  • build on work undertaken since the 2023 Barriers to Business Report.

UK-EU Reset

The United Kingdom is seeking to reset its relationship with the European Union ahead of a review of the UK-EU trade deal in 2026. Jersey has been asked to provide views on what it would like to see as a result of the reset. The results of this survey will contribute to the prioritisation that Jersey asks of the UK.

Export Strategy

One objective of the Export Strategy was to develop in-depth triennial surveys, of which this is the first part.

Barriers to Business

The 2023 Barriers to Business Survey included the long-term recommendation that Jersey improve processes (for export) through the negotiation of EU agreements.
