Request
I am requesting data on Jersey students studying abroad, by university.
Data is available on the number of Jersey students studying abroad, and the degree courses by subject:
Number of Jersey students by university 2012 to 2015 (FOI)
Jersey students studying in other countries and related funding (FOI)
However, I am looking for data on the number of Jersey students by university ie how many are studying at the University of Newcastle, the University of Brighton, over say a five to ten year period. The longer time frame would make clear if the universities Jersey students choose to attend is static, or if there is a trend towards any particular institution.
Response
We hold data relating to students from Jersey attending university and who have registered with Student Finance (whether or not they are in receipt of a student finance award).
The data does not include students from Jersey attending university who have not registered with Student Finance.
The data is provided in the table below covering the academic years 2012 / 13, 2013 / 14 and 2014 / 15.
Data for the current academic year, 2015 to 2016, is not yet available.
The question specifically relates to students studying off Island, however the data extracted from our systems includes both local and off Island institutions and we have therefore included the whole dataset for completeness and to aid comparisons.
Data prior to 2012 / 13 is stored on individual student files and it would take us in excess of 12.5 working hours to locate, retrieve and extract this.
