About the Barriers to Business Report
As part of Government’s commitment to making Government interactions as simple and efficient for new and existing businesses, entrepreneurs and social enterprises, the independent Barriers to Business Report was commissioned with the objectives of:
- understanding the key areas that were issues for businesses, including the sectors or business types disproportionately affected
- identifying where there were more efficient processes or systems that could address those issues and which were working well elsewhere
- engaging with all key stakeholders to identify and establish common themes and workable solutions
- prioritising specific interventions and suggesting action plans
- identifying short-term, medium-term and longer-term strategic projects with supporting information to allow appropriate prioritisation
The report was published in December 2023 with 38 summary recommendations
