We operate a number of sports centres across the Island under the brand name Active.   

Sports facilities provided at these sports centres, include:

  • fitness gyms
  • swimming pools
  • sauna and steam
  • fitness studios, including spinning studios
  • squash courts
  • multi-purpose sports halls
  • playing fields catering for various sports
  • outdoor sports grounds with grass and 3G pitches
  • outdoor ball courts
  • skatepark

Active members, and registered pay and play customers, can download the Active Jersey app to:

  • book fitness classes
  • cancel bookings
  • get sport centre information
  • find opening times 
  • see swimming pool timetables
  • stay up to date with news and events
  • get notifications of latest centre updates

The Active Swim School is based at Les Quennevais and follows the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme. It is the leading national teaching syllabus for delivering safe, inclusive and effective swimming lessons for all ages.

Sport grants and funding

Jersey Sport coordinate, manage and administer funds for travel and schools on behalf of the Government of Jersey. They also have a fund to support sports organisations following a legacy left in the will of Valerie Guy.

Travel concessions

Sports organisations can access a 15% discount with Condor Ferries.  Blue Islands Flight Fund supports Channel Island charities, groups and individuals to travel off Island.

Government's role in sport

The Government is responsible for ensuring that the conditions for sport are met through its framework, Inspiring an Active Jersey. 

The Government invests in sport through its operation of Government sport facilities, its grant to Jersey Sport and lottery funding.

Infrastructure and Environment and Department for Economy​ work closely together to deliver the Government’s priorities for sport and active living. 

The Minister for Infrastructure is also the Department for Economy’s Assistant Minister with responsibility for Sport.  This ensures political oversight across the sport portfolio.

Infrastructure and Environment is responsible for Jersey’s public gyms, sports facilities and playing fields. They oversee the Active member scheme and manage and operate Active sports centres​​.

The Department for the Economy is responsible for: 

  • ​providing an annual grant to Jersey Sport to deliver some of the Government Programme 
  • ensuring Jersey Sport delivers good value for the taxpayer by maintaining sound corporate governance and delivering against a set of key performance indicators 
  • ​maintaining compliance with Je​rsey’s responsibilities under the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport

Jersey Sport

The role of Jersey Sport​ is to act as a champion for sport and physical activity, working for and with sports organisations, Government and the wider community.​

Jersey Sport ​receives funding from The Department for the Economy and other Government departments which is targeted for spe​cific projects, including the delivery of elements of the Inspiring an Active Jersey framework.
