This latest report shows that:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the actively seeking work (ASW) total is 90 lower than a month earlier, in May 2011, and 30 lower than the average seen for the preceding three months
- the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1,280
- the latest monthly ASW total is 60 lower than that of a month earlier (May 2011) and 170 higher than that of a year earlier (June 2010)
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) has almost doubled during the last 12 months and now accounts for more than 1 in 6 of the ASW total
- 280 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, some 10 higher than the previous month; 140 teenagers were on the Advance to Work Scheme
