The recycling area, which was previously used by the department to store tarmac, now provides facilities to recycle household:
- paper
- cardboard
- metal packaging
- plastic bottles
- textiles
- batteries
Emma Richardson, Recycling Manager, TTS said: ‘The new St Peter’s Valley recycling area is on a main route to and from the west of the Island so we hope that it will be a very convenient place for people to recycle their household waste. Increasing recycling is all about making it easy and by adding new recycling facilities and working with the Parishes to investigate household recycling collections we hope to encourage more people to recycle and increase our Island’s recycling rate.’
TTS would like to explain that there are no glass recycling facilities at the new St Peter’s Valley site. Recyclers are asked to use the glass recycling service provided by each Parish which is a household glass collection in all Parishes except St Helier which provide bottle banks for parishioners.
