Islanders have another chance to give their views on the future of Health and Social Services next week, at the second of 4 public meetings on the ‘Caring for Each Other, Caring for Ourselves’ White Paper consultation. The meeting is on Monday 25 June from 7.30pm to 9pm at Les Quennevais school, just 4 weeks before the deadline for responses.
The Minister for Health and Social Services, the Treasury Minister and Chief Minister will be there, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Health and Social Services and other representatives from the department.
There will be a presentation about the White Paper proposals and an opportunity to discuss the options identified following last year’s Green Paper consultation.
The Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Anne Pryke, said: “We continue to engage with Islanders about these important proposals for the future of health and social care in Jersey, which affect every Islander. Please take time to come and have your say.
“We face some real challenges in the future, particularly about how we care for our growing elderly population and how we continue to give Islanders the best care. The White Paper deals with important issues like healthy lifestyles, supporting families with early years development, helping vulnerable adults, ensuring we get care into the community and looking at where we might place a new hospital for Jersey.”
Copies of the white paper will be available at the meeting. They can also be picked up from:
- parish halls
- reception areas in the Parade and Gloucester Street entrances of the General Hospital
- all Health and Social Services Department sites
- bookshop at Morier House
- Social Security
- Jersey Library
- reception area in Cyril Le Marquand House
- Blue Islands lounge at Jersey Airport
2 more public meetings are planned, both at St Paul’s Centre on 16 July, one at lunch time and one in the evening.
