Jersey residents moving away from the Island for three months or more now only need to complete a single online form to ensure the relevant departments are informed.
The leavers form is the latest Tell Us Once project to be brought in under the eGov programme. The aim of all Tell Us Once initiatives is to improve both customer service and efficiency across the States.
Single point of contact
The online leavers form will notify
- Social Security (including Population Office)
- Health and Social Services
- Taxes Office
- Education (if you’re leaving with a child of school age)
- GPs (when specific consent is given)
- the last parish in which the person resided
Previously anyone moving away from Jersey for three months or more (excluding students in full time education) would have needed to contact each of the above separately.
Joined up working
Operations Director for Social Security, Sophie Le Sueur, said “Improving customer service and efficiency is a priority for Social Security and the Tell Us Once project is a good example of the work being done in this area. We will continue to work with other departments as well as GPs and parishes to ensure we avoid duplication and that the information held is as up to date as possible. All Tell Us Once projects are subject to continual improvement based on feedback from both customers and colleagues and I’d encourage anyone with further suggestions to contact us.”

Tell Us Once progress
Tell Us Once has already delivered a number of new processes, bringing together different parts of the States and parishes along with the private sector (e.g. doctors) for
- new resident registration
- new business registration
- registration of births
- registration of deaths
- cease trading
- leaving Jersey
Tell Us Once is now in its second phase, which will continue to improve the above processes and also address the combined return (tax, Social Security and Manpower) and change of details (name, address, contact details and preferences).
