Le Geyt gas leak located and repaired

16 January 2025

Island Energy has confirmed that the mains gas leak, in the road close to the Le Geyt flats, has been located and repaired.

There are zero gas readings in any of the properties and the emergency services have been stood down.

Island Energy’s Network Manager has confirmed with emergency services that it is safe to reoccupy and Andium has informed residents that they are now able to go home.

Due to the excavations by gas engineers, Le Geyt road is currently blocked to through traffic. Traffic management in place to ensure residents of the Le Geyt estate are able to exit via the St Saviour’s Road entrance.

Island Energy has confirmed that there will be some continued monitoring of gas levels over the next couple of days in the area, but this is just a precautionary action and forms part of the normal procedures following a gas leak repair.

We would like to thank the States of Jersey Police and Honorary Police officers who remained on scene to ensure security of the homes while they were ventilated.

Once again, we would like to thank those residents affected for their patience and cooperation.

If you smell gas or suspect a gas escape:

  • call Island Energy immediately on 01534 755555, ideally leave the property to call
  • open doors and windows to ventilate
  • turn off gas appliances and, if possible, switch off the gas supply at the emergency control valve. This should be next to your gas meter or on the gas cylinder
  • extinguish all naked flames and cigarettes
  • do not use any electrical appliances or turn electrical switches on OR off
  • do not use the doorbell
  • do not message Island Energy via their website or e-mail about an emergency. Call immediately on 01534 755555
